Vinted Shoppers Express Displeasure Over Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Reaction
Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Stories
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
